Lady Angelica Fanshawe
Lady Angelica Fanshawe
I watched The Devils Whore on channel 4 and I loved it, I thought Andrea Riseborough was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen so decided to make a doll inspired by her character - Lady Angelica Fanshawe. The show follows a young aristocratic woman as she navigates the English Civil War, turning against the monarchy and joining forces with revolutionaries. Angelica has been disturbed by visions of the devil since childhood, and he starts appearing to her again amidst the grief of losing 3 husbands and her life as she once knew it.
Length 73cm, Width 20cm, Depth 10cm
Weight 366g
Articulated papier-mâché art doll, hand painted with acrylic and varnished, Black Wensleydale fleece hair. Bodice and skirt made from hand-dyed silk with vintage lace trim, the shift is made from a vintage pillow case. Angelica has hooks in her hands, back and head so can easily be displayed suspended and posed or seated.
For display not play. Joints are made with wire and nylon cord and will become more delicate with frequent movement. Keep out of direct sunlight and in a damp free environment.
My art objects are made from scratch in my home studio with a lot of love and sensitivity to their individual character. Each piece is unique and it is highly unlikely to be made again unless commissioned.
